I watched a video teaching the "tile technique" and wanted to try it for myself. I looked at my new products and selected the large floral stem and word block images from the Quiet Meadow stamp set and two new InColors Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent; that will be available in May.
The card has several steps and is labor intensive, but the outcome is pretty.
Step 1
Stamp the words image on a 3 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of Basic White with Gray Granite ink, stamping the words several times without reinking, all over the piece of paper. I stamped darker words at the top and bottom to anchor the image.
Step 2
Using your Stamparatus ink and stamp the floral stem image at least three times with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to get a good dark image. Clean the stamp. with Versamark stamp one more time. Cover with Clear embossing powder and heat.
Step 3
Using your grid paper make horizontal lines every 1/2 inch with a pencil
Step 4
Using the grid paper draw the vertical lines, this part is tricky. you want 1/2 and 1 inch tile pieces in each row and offset on the next row. Light pencil works best because you are going to have to erase.
Step 5
Cut on the horizontal line only, I used my little trimmer to get a straight line; you can also use your larger trimmer. Lay them down in order.
Step 6
Cut another piece of Basic White 3 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece, then begin to snip the tile pieces, laying them out in order, unless you like putting puzzles together.
Once you get it laid out, you will not use all the side pieces, but do keep the bottom and top rows to anchor the image. Add Stampin' Dimensionals to the tile pieces and place them on card stock.
Once you are done adhering the pieces flip the piece over the trim off the pieces hanging off.
Step Six
Adhere floral image to the Soft Succulent card stock, since this piece is heavy I used Mono Glue, then this to the Evening Evergreen. Finally when attaching to the Thick white card base center to the top, leaving a gap at the bottom.
Step Seven
Stamp the greeting in Evening Evergreen ink at the bottom
If you want to make this card with me let me know and I will set a class for this technique after the new catalog is release.
